This is probably the funniest thing I have ever seen Shank-a-Lot do. He is the dorkiest person in the world, but he knows how to please the crowd. It’s from the Hits for Haiti exo in Rod Laver Arena that Shanx put on (very kind of him). The two World No. 1′s attended (Shanx and Serena) as well as Rafa, Kim C., Andy R., Rusty, Sam Stosur, Nole, and Bernard Tomic.

It. Was. Hilarious. And it was all for a good cause, too.

In the fore-court, it’s Shanx and Sam; the back-court is Nole and Rafa, Rafa serving to Shanx.

The thing about it is, Shanx had the whole motion of Rafa’s forehand down, crazy whipping motion to the swinging of his whole body and all. And the lob off the ground by Nole was pure hilarity. That’s pretty much how it was the whole time. If you missed it, you missed something great. You can go here to see most of it though.

P.S. Rafa and Kim make the best mixed doubles team and Rafole is the best doubles team EVER.

The Aussie Open has a lot to live up to after that.

Sir Shank-a-Lot just dropped THIS gem on me the other day and it could NOT go un-posted on my blog:

“I had a lot of trouble against those baseliners early on just because they were too consistent. They could always get one more ball back. Maybe they didn’t have the best serve, but I wasn’t the best return player, so I couldn’t take advantage. My serve wasn’t solid enough yet, so I would always get tangled up in those horrible baseline rallies.

“Murray can still do that to some degree, but when I play too well or too offensively I can take time away from him now. And I’m too physical, whereas in the beginning I couldn’t do that. I couldn’t get around backhands like I can now. Now I can mix up my game too well for him to get under my skin.

“I know what I can do and I know what he can do. When we both play well it’s a close match, but I always feel it’s the attacker who holds the key to success, so it’s up to me whether I win or lose, not up to him. That’s why I don’t mind the match-up, to be honest.

“It’s like when [Pete] Sampras and [Andre] Agassi played. Agassi was more aggressive [than most counter-attackers], but still Sampras held the key because he was serving, pushing the limits, taking the risks. Which Murray doesn’t do so much – though that doesn’t take anything away from Murray. That’s just his game style.”

Now, there are a few reasons why this is something he PROBABLY should’ve kept to himself.

This will NEVER get old…

ESPN has been playing that more than they’ve been playing actual HIGHLIGHTS of the match. So, I just wanna say one thing to Shankalot:

Thank you for the MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF THE GRAND SLAM SEASON. We might not remember that delPo won his first Grand Slam at the US Open in 2009, but we will definitely remember that you gave Jake Garner a piece of your mind in the third set at 5-4.

Sitting This One Out

After claiming that he’d be better off NOT encountering Rafa before Roland Garros, Sir Shank-a-Lot is now afloat with confidence after his victory over the OCD One. So, I suppose the forehand is back on track. The serve is finally clicking. EVERYTHING is as it should be and even better… Shankstar finally figured out a way to conquer Rafa on the terre battue.

Don’t make me laugh.

We’ve done this dance with Shanx before: 2007 Hamburg. He beat Rafa 26 62 60; a bagel, people! Oh, the hype surrounding the final that year. In the first set alone, Shanx had 10 bps; 6 came in the 6th game. Rafa had 1 and converted immediately. In total, Shanx had 17 bps and converted only once; in the 2nd set.

Why should this year be any different? We’ve done this dance with Shankstar before. The only year I was positive he would lose was 2008. He did a fantastic job of proving me right. Shanx can beat Rafa on clay, I will concede. But, he can’t do it at Roland Garros short of Rafa breaking a toe.

I’m just sitting this one out.
